Chef Rob Cassels
Born and raised in Victoria, award-winning chef Robert Cassels delivers French-inspired contemporary cuisine through playful and elegant tasting menus, using local ingredients wherever possible. Chef Cassels works closely with the farmers, foragers, and fisheries of Vancouver Island to create an unforgettable dining experience. Cassels French cooking foundations were learned in his godparents’ French restaurant, Antoine’s. Then he worked in small restaurants and bakeries throughout high school and was running a kitchen by age 18.
Though largely self-taught, Cassels has developed his own style, influenced by stages in Paris and with the late Charlie Trotter in Chicago, then working with Victoria chef and caterer David Feys before launching Saveur four years ago.
The restaurant was recently named the best restaurant in Victoria 2019 by YAM magazine.
